NOTE: This
is an original film that's organized by the producer to document some of the
games Ethiopian kids play. This is a film that truly depicts the time
spent by 29 Ethiopian kids playing several games, such as "Hoya Hoye",
"Abebayhew", "Beye", "Ayveredi", "Lebana
Police", "Kest", "Segno Maksegno", "Debebekosh",
and others, without overwhelming special effects. In order to keep the originality of the games, the kids that
participated in this film were not told to act in a particular way nor were they
provided a script. This film is about all kids, including oromo,
tigray, gurage, amhara, Ethiopian Jews, and other ethnic groups.
An introductory statement (as a subtitle) is included at the start of each game (narration is avoided so as not to interfere with the plays). Additionally, a director's commentary is included in the bonus material. Hope this film would initiate a discussion about childhood life in Ethiopia. WK Ethiopia is a film production entrepreneurship. W and K stand for the first initials of my father's and mother's names, respectively, and Ethiopia is my home country. The kids in this film have been compensated for their participation. The parents of the kids were fully aware of the kids' roles in the making of this film. Portion of the profit goes to help the children who participated in this film and Ethiopian orphanages. Details will be available. WARNING: For private home use only. Federal law provides severe civil and criminal penalties for unauthorized reproduction, distribution or exhibition. |
